Catherine Berry joined the insurance industry in 1998 with an appointment at Statucor, moving to Event Makers two years later. But her real passion for the discipline was only truly discovered when she joined Lireas Holdings in 2001. Driven and eager to expand her capabilities, she moved four years later to Aviation Insurance Company Limited. This stint was followed by her appointment at Phoenix Underwriting Managers, and in this role, she specialised and excelled in liability insurance. She simultaneously completed her Honours Degree in Insurance and Risk Management and accumulated a number of industry awards for her academic performance. Catherine joined the Camargue team in 2010 and has tirelessly worked her way through the ranks, holding the title of Director: Commercial and Cyber Crime Division and in a recent change, has assumed the role of FIPI. Her appetite for development was the drive behind her successful completion of a Masters of Commerce in Insurance and Risk through the University of Witwatersrand. Her final dissertation was an impressive almost 300 page submission focused on cyber liability and today she continues to play a leading role in shaping the cyber insurance landscape in South Africa.
